Take Action on PEPFAR Reauthorization The alerts below are all necessary actions to take to ensure PEPFAR reauthorization in the best, most effective form possible. Join hundreds of advocates in DC to call for reform of US Global AIDS Plans Monday, March 31 at 11am, hundreds of AIDS activists will converge on Capitol Hill to call for reform of US Global AIDS policies. Feb. 26: Call Senator Lugar (Ranking Member of Senate Foreign Relations) and ask him to write the best possible PEPFAR reauthorization bill, and e-mail your Member of Congress Tuesday, Feb. 26th is Youth AIDS Day. We need to take time to call Senator Lugar and email our Members of Congress to remind them to support a comprehensive PEPFAR reauthorization bill which includes $50 billion over five years in funding and  supports training 140,000 new healthcare workers to address the dire shortage of doctors and nurses in Africa that is preventing us from scaling up treatment access as quickly as is necessary. Feb. 23: Ask Democratic House Committee on Foreign Affairs Members to Support PEPFAR Reauthorization Before Feb. 27th, can you make several calls to Democratic Members of Congress and encourage them to attend the committee hearing on Feb. 27th and stay for the whole time to vote in favor of the PEPFAR reauthorization bill, as introduced, including at least $50 billion over five years, allowing us to treat 1/3 of people with HIV in clinical need, train sufficient health workers to scale up treatment, and prevent infections with evidence-based approaches?
